What is a sloth?

A sloth is known as a slow-moving tropical American mammal that hangs upside down from the branches of trees using its long limbs and hooked claws.
- There are two different types of sloths; two-toed and three-toed.
- Sloths are endangered mammals.
- Typically 23in' and weighing in around 9 pounds.
- Sloths are herbivores meaning a mammal that eats plants.
- Built for life in tree tops where they spend most of their time hanging from branches.
- Their powerful grip and long claws allows them to hang from branches.
- An article in the National Geographic informed that their long claws hamper their mobility on ground leaving sloths somewhat helpless to predators.
- Sloths are known as the slowest mammals, in fact, sloths are so slow that algae grows on their fur leaving a greenish tint, which helps them camouflage with the trees.
- Sloths primarily live in Central and South American rain forests.
